Red Bull Wings for Life World Run
Pitch | Contribution: Senior Visual Designer | Project Length: 1 month
The Challenge:
The Wings for Life World Run is a globally celebrated event, uniting hundreds of thousands of participants in support of spinal cord research. As participation grew—reaching over 265,000 runners in 2024, the existing digital experience struggled to accommodate the scale. Athletes and supporters faced challenges accessing event information, signing up, making donations, and finding essential resources such as race maps. A more streamlined, user-friendly platform was needed to engage participants and amplify the foundation’s impact.
The Solution:
We created a dynamic, inclusive digital experience for the Wings for Life World Run, hosted across six cities worldwide. Participants can join in person or connect with virtual run groups, making it easy for anyone to take part regardless of location or ability. The site and free app let runners train against the virtual Catcher Car, track their progress, and engage with the global community, fostering connection while ensuring the race is accessible and fun for everyone.
The Results:
265,818 participants in 2024 — largest Wings for Life World Run ever
6 host cities globally plus virtual groups, enabling participation from anywhere
Inclusive format welcomed athletes of all abilities, increasing accessibility
Free app adoption drove higher training engagement, with users tracking progress against the virtual Catcher Car
Community building: runners connected locally and virtually, fostering shared motivation
Donations increased as registration and donation flows were simplified and more accessible
Global visibility and awareness for spinal cord research amplified through integrated digital storytelling
